7 verses for 7 days for your marriage and family
The times we’re experiencing are certainly unprecedented. As husbands and wives, how do we navigate our “new normal” and lead our families?
Recently we were walking in our neighborhood and talking about how we don’t want to waste our days. Every day is a gift from God. How will we use this time of national rest that the Lord has given us? For us, we want to complete some projects around our house. We also want to do some writing for Build Your Marriage and build OUR marriage spiritually.
How about you? What will you do with the time God has given you and your family? Many of you are quarantined with children at home. What a valuable opportunity to sow into your children God’s principles and His Word!
Whether you’re at home with just your spouse (like we are) or you have children home right now, we’d like to challenge you to take the following Scriptures and talk about them each day. Maybe you can memorize them as a family or as a couple.
We have seven Bible verses, one for each day of the week, that you can memorize and think about throughout each day. The Bible tells us to teach our kids His Word by instructing them and talking to them about God when we’re sitting at home or walking or when we get up or go to bed (Deut. 6:7). As a couple or as a family, concentrate on these verses each day until this pandemic is behind us:
Sundays
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 NIV
Mondays
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT
Tuesdays
“For the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 23:4 NLT
Wednesdays
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalms 55:22 NIV
Thursdays
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
Fridays
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12b ESV
Saturdays
“Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God.” 1 Chronicles 22:19 NIV
It’s our hope that when you emerge from this time of isolation, you will be stronger in your faith in Jesus Christ as you build your marriage.
